Landscape Maintenance

Published: June 1, 2018

Just a friendly reminder to everyone:

  • Please mow your entire property. This includes areas outside your fenced yards.
  • Proper yard maintenance also includes edging around hardscape objects, such as pavement, planter beds, and your home.
  • If a plant dies, remove AND replace it promptly.
  • If you are having difficulty with your lawn, check for the following:
    • Water. Is it getting enough? Too much?
    • Is it getting enough sunlight? Tree canopies must be thinned to allow the light through and the grass to grow beneath.
    • Tree roots. Are the roots too shallow, resulting in not enough top soil to keep the grass growing? (Honestly folks. I don’t know how to fix this. You need to consult an arborist.)
  • Trim and thin shrubs and trees. Be sure you have curb appeal. You paid a lot of money for your homes and they are BEAUTIFUL! Don’t let your landscape grow so large we can’t see it! Keep your yard trimmed. Hand pruning is best, except with decorative grasses, which need to be cut back annually.
  • Temporary Road Construction

    Published: January 28, 2019

As many of you have already noticed, temporary road constructions signs appeared today along Heathland Crossing near our FM740 entrance. The signs were placed there by TxDot, not the city of Heath, for TxDot’s forthcoming Smirl reconstruction project. By state law, TxDot must post constructions signs at a certain distance from the construction area. Smirl will be reconstructed from CVS southward to where Smirl reconnects to FM740 near city hall. In addition to the constructions signs, TxDot also installed – in error – a temporary 45mph speed limit sign on Heathland Crossing. I’ve already informed the city of this issue and the city is contacting TxDot to remove or replace the sign with a 30mph sign as soon as possible, hopefully by this Monday.
